Guest Speaker

The Guest Speaker for the occasion was Professor Stephen Addae the former and first rector of GIMPA. Speaking on the theme of the ceremony “Educating the Ghanaian in the 21st Century for Sustainable Development”, Professor Stephen Addae proposed to the government to reintroduce the four years SHS duration since the children who attend present day secondary school are not mature enough to perform creditably in the three years education system.

He said that the actual contact years for the SHS is only two and a half years but the number of subjects these children take are too many and most of them are irrelevant to our present day lives; hence they complete school half-baked and cannot do anything.

Professor Addae also called for the review of the school curriculum to make it technical and vocational oriented since the 21st century education has no room for liberal education.

In the end some deserving teachers and students were presented awards.
