The gesture was in fulfillment of helping the physically challenged with start-up capital and other logistics to help them to be self-reliant and also help drive the local economy.

He noted that the aim of the government is to find a lasting solution to the plight of the vulnerable, hence the increment of the disability component of the District Assembly Common Fund to 3%.

“I shall be visiting your communities to investigate if indeed you are going to trade with these items”, he added. Furthermore, he posited the largesse are given in batches so those who have benefitted some time past will not enjoy this time.

The elated beneficiaries couldn’t hide their joy after receiving the largesse. “We are going to put these items to good use”, stated a beneficiary. The items included but not limited to Deep Freezers, Cash, Kneating Machines, Sewing Machines, Fufu Pounding Machines, and Spraying Machines.

In addition, Hairdressers, welders, and other artisans also received various tools and equipment needed for their trade. In all about 36 beneficiaries received hairdryers, Welding Machines, Ovens, and Sewing Machines from the Chief Executive.

Delivering the items, Mr. Darko noted that, these beneficiaries are part of the 246 artisans the government enrolled into apprenticeship but only 36 made their parents proud by staying to the cause.

“We placed over 240 people into an apprenticeship, catered for their expenses, gave them tools and were given monthly stipends but only 36 of them walked the tide to come this far”, he stated. He charged the gathering to take the trade seriously to help them out of poverty.

He advised the gathering to vote massively for Nana Akufo Addo and Hon Isaac Kwame Asiamah to drive the development agenda of the District.

He also entreated all to stay safe from all electoral violence in the upcoming elections on Monday 7-12-2020.
