The Police in Brong-Ahafo have started special patrols and swoops in the region to ensure peace and security during the yuletide.

The Police in Brong-Ahafo have started special patrols and swoops in the region to ensure peace and security during the yuletide.

The Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, Chief Inspector Yaw Nketia-Yeboah who said this in an interview with GNA in Sunyani, said swoops had already been carried out in the Sunyani, Techiman, Berekum, Atebubu, Yamfo, Wenchi and Goaso areas.

He said the exercise led to the arrest of Kwabena Moaba, 30, unemployed, and three others at Bethel a suburb of Sunyani.

Chief Insp. Nketia-Yeboah said the Police retrieved a box containing a quantity of papers used in wrapping drugs from the premises of a suspect, who is on the run, at Yamfo.

He said at Goaso, Osei Tutu and Asare Baffoe were arrested on December 19 for possessing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Chief Insp. Nketia-Yeboah said Ayor Djallo and Kwable Hanson, both farmers, were arrested at Atebubu with papers used in wrapping drugs whilst Yaw Baba, 35, farmer, was arrested with three fertilizer bags full of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and in Berekum, seven suspects were apprehended for loitering.

He said the Police would intensify their operations to enable the people go about their activities without fear of intimidation or harassment by criminals during the Christmas.
   
Chief Insp. Nketia-Yeboah commended the public for co-operating with the Police in the fight against crime.
