The drones are expected to help the Assembly and government for that matter find out and locate Galamsey operators in their hidden sites for immediate arrest and prosecution.

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kwaebibirem, Mr Seth Antwi Boasiako, who made this known at the Assembly’s Ordinary General Assembly Meeting, disclosed that, the government's Inter Ministerial Committee On Illegal Mining (IMCIM) has officially handed over drones, high-end laptops, external drives and other accessories to the Assembly in order to monitor and control galamsey in the area.

He further revealed that, the Assembly has subsequently trained two personnel of the Nation Builders Corp (NABCO) to undertake piloting of the drones to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the drones.

He assured that government will not relent on its fight against galamsey to help protect various forest reserves and water bodies.
