According to the first Deputy Minority Whip, there are no activities going on in the various assemblies and further lamented that the last quarter of the common fund of last year had not been paid by government.

“How can the District Assemblies survive, it is not enough to say I have created District Assemblies”, he lamented in an interview.

Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim called on government to release resources to the Districts for them to do what they are supposed to do.

And further added that the committee on Local Government and Rural Development has gone on a field trip and that they are considering the report as it is being put together.

When the committee lays the report you would see the recommendation that the committee on Local Government and Rural Development would make, he indicated.

“There is a serious developmental problem and challenges at the Local Government system and the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta does not see the need to pay the common fund, he does not know the use, which is why foot soldiers and the party grassroots are crying that the government is a non-performing government”.

He further added, “yes non-performing because you cannot provide common fund that use to be common”, as to whether it is not the Minority’s position, he responded by saying, “I am telling you that from September 2018 government has not paid the last quarter of common fund”
