He said it was proper for parents to invest in the education of their children rather than spend on things that would not inure to the future wellbeing of their children.

Mr Quaye gave the advice at the Speech and Prize-Giving Day of the Awutu Beraku AME Zion Basic School, in the Awutu-Senya West District of the Central Region.

It was on the theme: “Raising Responsible Future Leaders - The Role of Stakeholders.”

 
The DCE said the only property parents could bequeath their children was education adding; “No family member can take the knowledge the children will acquire through education from them.”

 Also said the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, would surely implement the Free Senior High School Policy in the next academic year, beginning September, and asked parents to take advantage of it.

He assured the authorities of the Awutu Beraku AME Zion Basic School of the Assembly’s preparedness to construct a kindergarten block for the school to enhance teaching and learning.Mr Quaye urged teachers to refrain from absenteeism and lateness to school which affected productivity.

 No child is useless when it comes to academic performance. It is the duty of the teacher to ensure that the child gets the right tuition, he said, adding that the poor performance of children in the Basic Certificate Education Examination (BECE) should not be put at the door steps of the students.

“Teachers have acquired the requisite skills, knowledge and expertise to teach so why must the students suffer setbacks in learning and passing their examination,” he said.

 He suggested that certificates of teachers who did not perform to the satisfaction of the supervisors must be withdrawn as is the practice in some professions.
