TIGUOHI Development Association homecoming climaxed
The president of TIGUOHI Development Association, Mr. Martin D. Jatoe has called for unity among members of the TIGUOHI Development Association which comprises: Tibani, Zanbogu, Janguohi and Jang all within the Nadowli Kaleo district of the Upper West region.

Mr. Martin who was speaking at the second home coming of the sons and daughters of the development association at Jang on 1st January, 2018, said unity is the surest way to building synergy for development.

Mr. Martin added that there is no reason to deny themselves unity and as the edge say “unity is the power and united we stand” he said they cannot develop as current indiscipline of the youth is growing each day, he said a society that losses its traditional values would loss it identity, he therefore, called for reinforcement of traditional values.



The Hon. DCE for Nadowli-Kaleo, Katherine T.Lankono who was the special guest of honor commended the chiefs and people of the TIHUOHI area for making available land for the Government industrial enclave and assured them that anybody who will want to put up any industry in the area would have to consider using both the skilled and the unskilled labor of the area.

As measure by the government to improve on health situation in the district, Madam Katherine also disclosed that the health Centre at Jang will be converted into a Polyclinic to serve as a referrer centre for clinics around the catchment area.



Madam Katherine also appealed to farmers to repay the planting for food and jobs fertilizer that was provided as part of measure by the NPP government to make farming a lucrative business in the northern sector, planting for food and is a campaign policy by the NPP party during the 2016 elections.

Madam Katherine is Ghana is blessed with vast arable lands yet every year we spend huge millions of dollars to import food items into the country.

What is more, the contribution of agriculture, which is largely touted as the backbone of Ghana’s economic development, has seen steady decline over the past eight years.



From a GDP growth of 7.4% in 2008 during the exit of the then NPP administration, the sector declined to as low as 2.4% in 2016.

However, the situation is not a lost one. Under the NPP administration led by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, Ghanaians are beginning to see hope and prosperity.

In order to arrest the declining trend and reverse this anomaly, the government has introduced the flagship agricultural policy “Planting for Food and Jobs”

The campaign is a national clarion call on every Ghanaian to take up farming as a full time or part time activity.

Whether you are a bank manager, a teacher market woman or a nurse, you are being encouraged to plant something.

She admonished the chiefs and elders to ensure that the Free Senior High School achieve it target by reversing the falling standards and affordability of education in their communities, she said they should stop all night clubs and non-cultural activities that will take the school children attention from books.

The association also presented learning and sports materials to three schools that participated in a quiz competition, the first school, Jang JHS was presented a certificate of participation and a set of football jersey, the first runner-up school, Lambuory JHS was also presented a certificate of participation and two footballs and Janguasy T.I Ahmadyyia JHS as second runner-up were also presented with a certificate of participation and a football.



All the 9 children who participated were also giving 10 exercise books each.

The DCE also presented 50 Ghana cedis each to two female students who participated in the quiz competition, and admonished them to study hard to be DCEs one day.

The homecoming also saw Truth for Today Medical Mission Organization a medical organization from America with affiliation from the Baptist church also conducted medical screening for the Jang community and it catchment areas.

The homecoming was climaxed with dinner at the Jang Junior High School.
