Wangara Communities celebrates Kurubi Festival
The people of Wangara have celebrated the 2018 edition of the Annual National Kurubi Benkadi Festival in the Brong-Ahafo Region on the theme “Education Key For Sustainable Development; Support The SHS Double Track System For Greater Education Potential”.

This festival is celebrated in November every year to commemorate the descending of the first verse of the Holy Qura’n it also draws people from far and near across the West African Sub Region and different regions in Ghana, Kintampo to celebrate this joyful occasion and to see display of rich colorful and traditional culture peculiar to only the Wangare people. And it marks the Wangara community’s pay allegiance to the traditional paramouncy in Kintampo.

The occasion was grace by a lot of Chiefs and government official the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Sarkodie Baffoe, the Regional Director Information Service Department Mr. Imoro T Ayibani, The Regional Director /Manager for Ghana Tourism Authority Mr. Joseph Appia Agyei, The Deputy Director – Finance and Administration –Ghana Tourism Authority Mr. Isaac Adomako Mensah, The Deputy Director – Center for National Culture Mr. Emmanuel Ansu, The Board chairman for Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund and also the Executive Secretary to the Coalition of Chiefs for Bono East Region, and Mrs. Roberta Dorson-Amoah and official, also from Ghana Tourism Authority and other government officials.

The King of Gonja, Techiman and other traditional areas in the Brong Ahafo region were present at the durbar to witness the memorable occasion.



Nana Yusifi Fanyinama III, the paramount chief of the people of Wangare in his welcome address express his gratitude to all presence he explained the traditional values, and also the platform it gives to family reunification as well as implementing development intervention in their localities to enhance the socio-economic needs of the people.

He also said the festival also give them the opportunity to pay gratitude to Allah and their ancestors for their life.

He added that it was an honor for him to invite his Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and other dignitaries to witness this durbar.

He ended by thanking the government of Ghana by introducing the double-track system into the Senior High School education sector to enable all Junior High School Leavers to get access to the Senior High School in aid of the free Senior High School policy, praising the Prophet Mohammed and giving thanks to the most high God who in Islam known as Allah.

The secretary to the creation of Bono East Prof. Ameyaw Ekumfi expressed his gratitude for been invited to witness this joyful durbar by Fanyinama II.

He commended government for the introduction of the double-track system in the Senior High School level and therefore tasked the people of Wangara to support the double-track system for a better education system in Ghana. He explained that, education has been transforming from one stage to the other and therefore we must all understand that fact and support the double-track system.



He therefore entreats all citizens of Bono to support the creation of the Bono East in the Brong Ahafo region by voting “YES” in the referendum on December 27th.

And that, is not about political affiliation or political influence but rather fighting for development, he added.

He said, there are mineral resources, tourist sites, and therefore high level of agricultural production and if the people of Bono are able to vote for the creation of the Bono East, they can put all these things mentioned at its best to generate more revenue to the region.

He therefore commended the people of Wangara community in Ghana for the successful organization of the Kurubi Benkadi festival each year where this year’s own was one of the best.

The Regional Director/Manager for Ghana Tourism Authority Mr. Joseph Appia-Agyei thanked and congratulated Nana Fanyinama III for a wonderful annual festival celebration, he thanked the people of Kintampo for their co-operation and asked them especially the youth of Kintampo to take good care and make good use of the many tourism centers we have to our advantage.

Hon. MCE Sarkodie Baffoe thanked Fanyinama III for giving him the opportunity to play the role of the president of Ghana in his absence because he was out of the country performing equal important duty.

He said government is working hard to achieving all the policies they promised to Ghanaians and in Kintampo trying to provide infrastructure for schools such as accommodation and furniture for school.

And that Kurubi Festival brings us back to our culture and it impact some values, norms and gives as the respected ideas of our believes in our communities he said.

He also congratulated the people of Wangara’s for their unity and support and all the level of co-operation.
