N DAYI: Assembly to pass new bye-laws to help improve education

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of North Dayi, Edmund Atta Kudjo has said that, the assembly would soon pass a new bye-law to deter pupils from loitering around and attending social gatherings especially, during late hours.

This, he said, was the Assembly’s best bet to help improve the falling standard of education in the area which is primarily attributed to the lack of parental control and indiscipline on the part of the pupils.

Announcing this at the Assembly’s second ordinary meeting at Anfoega, the District Capital, Mr Kudjo noted that, it was a well-established fact that parental involvement is linked to children’s educational success; hence “the assembly in consultation with Traditional Authorities and other stakeholders would soon pass a bye law to deter pupils from loitering around in the respective communities during late evenings”.

According to him, the new bye-law would encourage children to take their studies seriously in order to benefit from the laudable vision of the Akufo-Addo led administration’s “Free SHS” flagship initiative.

He further made known the assembly’s intention to set up a scholarship scheme for best performed BECE candidates as means of encouraging pupils to take their studies serious.

The DCE assured that the Government, and for that matter, the Assembly would continue to give education the required attention and support it deserves for the development of human resource base of the district.

He also charged the District Education Directorate (DED) to ensure that the District Education oversight committee performs its mandated duties effectively and efficiently to further complement efforts made by the assembly.
